Deborah
Henson-ConantTuesday, February 14, 2012 - 7:00 P.M.
She’s a one-woman,
blues-flamenco-Celtic-funk-folk-jazz-playing dynamo. She solos like a rock
guitarist. She tells tall tales with the timing of a stand-up comic. She’s
an irrepressible, lyrical spirit. But wait till you see that harp. Deborah
Henson-Conant is a Grammy-nominated artist who sings and plays a 36-string
custom-built electric “harness harp” in styles ranging from full-out bluesy
to heart-wrenching ballad. She has toured with the Boston Pops, starred in a
PBS special, lectured at the Paris Conservatory and played at the Kennedy
Center. Deborah’s albums range from Latin jazz to Celtic, blues, folk-pop and
spoken word. But on stage, she’s electric, bringing vibrant passion to a
powerful musical journey, taking audiences along for the ride. See her once
and you’ll never view or hear a harp the same way again. |
Anita
ChenFriday, March 16, 2012 - 7:00 P.M.
Anita is one of the rarest talents in orchestral
music: She is equally adept on the violin and piano. At age 11, Anita Chen
launched her career as a professional soloist at Carnegie Hall in 2002,
performing on both violin and piano with the St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble.
Returning to Carnegie Hall in 2009, Anita made her recital debut in a
program featuring Cimarosa, Mozart, Schubert, Liszt, Prokofiev and Markov,
performing one half of the concert on piano and the other on violin.
Accepted into the pre-college division at Juilliard School at age 7, Anita
has won numerous piano and violin competitions. Anita plays with precision and style, warmth and
imagination. And whether it’s Mozart or Saint-Saens, piano or violin, she
rewards audiences with a performance that’s impressive and inspiring. |
Take
Me Home: The Music of John DenverThursday, April 12, 2012 - 7:00 P.M.
The songs are timeless. The resemblance is
remarkable. The message, still relevant. With multi-platinum hits like
“Rocky Mountain High,” “Annie’s Song” and “Calypso,” John Denver captured a
worldwide audience through his songs of care and concern. Today his music
comes to life though Jim Curry’s ultimate tribute. His is the first and only
full-length John Denver tribute in Las Vegas, and his shows throughout North
America and on the Holland America Cruise Line are testament to John
Denver’s lasting appeal. Jim’s powerful performances (accompanied by
guitar/mandolin, flute, keyboard, bass and drums) bring John Denver’s
greatest songs and feelings to life, blending the images of our natural
earth with a love for each other. With his compelling voice and heartfelt
words, Jim brings a welcome rebirth to the enduring music of America’s
troubadour. |
